Congratulate José Pérez, the First Hispanic President of the Milwaukee Common Council!

Congratulations to Alderman José G. Pérez, who was recently elected President of the Milwaukee Common Council and is the first Hispanic alderman to hold the position.

President Pérez, whose district includes Walker’s Point, the Near South Side and Historic Mitchell Street, was first elected in 2012.

On Milwaukee’s South Side, with a strong hispanic population, enrollment in choice and charter schools is 59%. According to a Marquette Law School Poll, minority support for school choice is strong – with 73% of Hispanic respondents being pro-voucher.

Pérez’ district includes several high-performing choice and charter schools including Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, St. Anthony School, St. Martini Lutheran, Stellar Elementary (Carmen Schools of Science & Technology) and more. These schools are an asset to the community, serving families seeking more and better educational options for their children.

Congratulate President Pérez and ask him to support school choice!
